The SWPA’s primary mission is to support implementation of strategic workforce planning as a repeatable measurable business process. Anticipating demands (external and internal) and planning to deploy talent supplies (internal and external) is a critical but often overlooked success factor for businesses.

Our education and outreach creates a better understanding of how leaders and organizations can make the connection between business and talent strategy and reliably execute strategy under changing conditions, by getting the right people with the right skills in the right roles at the right time and in the right place, at the right investment.


The SWPA offers a certification curriculum throughout the U.S. and in global enterprises, in conjunction with Human Capital Strategy. In addition, the SWPA offers customized training for companies, as well as a consulting service to help organizations develop formal strategic workforce plans.

    1. Once enrolled, our members can contribute to online discussions to share how they are applying the recommended best practices in their organization, and share challenges they encounter so that faculty and other certified members can comment and coach.
    2. Once certified, our members can post white papers, research, case studies and other content on the portal or to be published, subject to approval by the editorial board, with member representation.


    The Strategic Workforce Planning Academy was founded in 2017. We believe that free online education available to users on-demand will embed strategic workforce planning as a business competency. The Strategic Workforce Planning Academy is primarily funded through certification fees and underwriter sponsors. Support is also provided from suppliers of workforce planning analytics products and services who can benefit by increasing their visibility with potential customers and generating measurable business opportunities by sharing thought leadership with targeted audiences.
